Lauren Blair Radio
I'm a full on music freak who loves going to shows. As my other blog will tell you, I'm obviously an atheist but seeing a kickass band on stage is the closest I come to being "spiritual". My favorite quotes often come from my favorite lyrics. Like religion and politics, I have opinions I'd like to share-as well as some of my concert going experiences!

Fitz and the Tantrums "Out of My League"
I only heard this song for the first time today and then I kept hearing it all over radio land. Seriously- only today. This song, "Out of My League" by Fitz and the Tantrums is going to blow up more than it already it is. It's catchy, romantic, but still darker and indie. I LOVE it! Enjoy:

Yuck is coming back in Fall 2013!
According to Spin Magazine, Yuck is slated to release their sophomore album later this year. This makes me so, so, so, SO happy! I've been a fan of theirs since they released "Holing Out" two years ago. I own the actual CD and everything-not just random MP3s or starred tracks on Spotify. I think it was also Spin who dubbed them "the best band from the 90s that didn't exist until 2011"-which is the most perfect way ever to coin them.
That said I'm curious how this album will shape up as they've since lost their lead vocalist and prominent song writer (Daniel Blumberg). I'm going to remain optimistic though and hope that they FINALLY tour here in Denver as they never made the rounds here for the self titled album tour.
All in all, it's a good news music day as far as I'm concerned!!

Elvis Costello rocks
I've really only gotten into Elvis Costello over the past year. Admittedly that's weird. I'm confused as to how I missed the boat on him my whole life. Hell, one of my all-time favorite movies is 200 Cigarettes and he plays a semi-important role in one of the characters plot lines.
Regardless, he's been one of my obsessions over the past 6 months or so and this is a song that always gets stuck in my head ("You Belong to Me"). This YouTube clip rocks too- he's bringing everyone up on stage. Too. Cool.

"Pull Shapes" - The Pipettes
Even though they're (pseudo) manufactured British indie-pop, I've become completely addicted to The Pipettes within the past week. Although I've been exploring their two albums, We Are The Pipettes and Earth vs. The Pipettes in their entirety, I'm completely stuck on the song "Pull Shapes." So if you're having a bad day, or merely looking for some fun, poppy, but still kind of retro cool music...check them out. You're welcome!

It's going to be a music weekend!
I'm super excited! I'm seeing NOFX with a bunch of friends tonight AND I'm checking out Capital Cities on Monday (also with a bunch of friends). I've never seen NOFX, and while I like listening to them I wouldn't consider them one of my favorite bands. However, I'm really curious to see them live. And, as I've mentioned in the above link Capital Cities has become my newest obsession.
I'll be sure to post photos!!!! Have a great weekend :)

I'm totally obsessed with this song...!
R.E.M. is so amazing. It took me until 2 years ago to truly get into them (minus a brief stunt in the 5th grade when I considered myself a fan). I love this song ("We all go back to where we belong.")

Capital Cities
I've recently been catching the song "Safe and Sound" by Capital Cities on the local rock station about halfway through. At first I liked it enough but wasn't psyched, but over the past week I've become addicted to it. I finally checked them out on Spotify and I like their limited album a lot too. They're very airy and fun like a lot of bands breaking through these days. The first band I thought to compare them to were Passion Pit (although definitely different too), but they're not in the Related Artist section of Spotify so perhaps I'm wrong. Check 'em out though! I'm considering seeing them live soon...anyone have an experience with seeing them live?
